Prison Decongestion & Reintegration Program
Our Prison Decongestion & Reintegration Program advocates for a more just and humane criminal justice system. We work to reduce prison overcrowding, support rehabilitation efforts, and help individuals successfully reintegrate into society after incarceration.
Through legal advocacy, rehabilitation programs, job training, and community support, we address the root causes of recidivism and create pathways for successful reintegration. Our program has successfully freed over 50 individuals who were wrongfully detained and supported hundreds more in their journey to rebuild their lives.
Challenge & Solution
Prisons in Nigeria face severe overcrowding, with many individuals held without trial or for minor offenses. Additionally, released individuals often face stigma, lack of employment opportunities, and limited support systems, leading to high recidivism rates. Our program addresses these challenges through legal representation, advocacy for bail and early release, job training and placement, mentorship programs, and community reintegration support.
Impact & Results
We've successfully freed over 50 individuals who were wrongfully detained or held without trial. Our rehabilitation programs have supported 200+ individuals in job training and placement, resulting in 75% successful employment rates. Our reintegration support has helped reduce recidivism by 60% among program participants, and we've established partnerships with 30+ employers willing to hire rehabilitated individuals.
